Building Shared Strategic Capabilities Across Complex Multi-Business Organizations
Diversified business groups face a unique strategic challenge: creating a shared way of thinking about the future while enabling each company to respond to the distinct realities of its own industry, market, and competitive environment.
Onda works with multi-business organizations to design and orchestrate group-wide strategic capability transformations that connect leaders across companies, industries, and functions.
Our approach goes beyond delivering a standardized program across multiple businesses. We work with senior leadership to understand the strategic realities of each organization, identify sector-specific priorities and uncertainties, and create a shared architecture that enables leaders to think more systematically about the future.
Through executive interviews, customized methodologies, strategic foresight tools, cross-company learning, real business cases, and applied workshops, we help diversified organizations create a shared strategic language while preserving the unique perspectives and priorities of each business.

Building a Shared Strategic Foresight Capability Across a Diversified Group Ecosystem
Client Profile
A leading diversified business group with companies operating across automotive and mobility, healthcare, food and beverage, agriculture and food production, consumer products, restaurant services, and real estate.
Business Challenge
The initiative was commissioned at the highest level of the organization by the Group Chairman, with the ambition of strengthening Strategic Foresight and Planning capabilities across a highly diversified portfolio of businesses.
The challenge was not simply to deliver the same development program to multiple companies.
Each organization operated within a different industry, faced different market dynamics, and had its own strategic priorities, competitive pressures, emerging opportunities, and future uncertainties.
The objective was therefore to create a shared Strategic Foresight and Planning capability across the group while ensuring that the experience remained directly connected to the realities of each participating business.
The initiative needed to create a common strategic language without reducing the unique perspectives and strategic priorities of individual companies.
Our Approach
Before designing the program architecture, Onda conducted in-depth interviews with senior executives representing the participating companies and sectors.
These conversations were designed to understand:
- Sector-specific dynamics and uncertainties
- Strategic priorities
- Emerging challenges and opportunities
- Leadership expectations
- Real business problems facing each organization
- Topics requiring deeper future-focused exploration
The insights gathered through these interviews became a direct input into the design of the overall engagement.
Based on the identified expectations and business realities, Onda designed a customized Strategic Foresight and Planning architecture and developed dedicated tools and methodologies to support the journey.
Rather than bringing together executives exclusively from the same companies, participants from different businesses and industries were intentionally brought together in cross-company mixed cohorts.
This structure enabled executives to step outside the boundaries of their own industries and examine strategic challenges through multiple perspectives.
Over the course of 18 months, executives representing nine group companies participated in approximately 21 program groups.
Each program combined Strategic Foresight and Planning methodologies with applied workshops.
Rather than relying solely on generic or theoretical business cases, workshops were built around real business challenges and actual cases experienced by companies within the group.
Participants worked together to:
- Examine real organizational and market challenges
- Explore alternative future scenarios
- Challenge established assumptions
- Evaluate emerging risks and opportunities
- Apply Strategic Foresight methodologies
- Develop strategic approaches and potential solutions
- Learn from executives operating in different industries
The cross-company cohort structure created an additional layer of strategic value.
Executives from automotive, mobility, healthcare, food and beverage, agriculture, consumer products, restaurant services, and real estate were able to bring different industry perspectives into the same strategic conversations.
This enabled participants to learn not only from Onda’s methodologies and tools, but also from the experiences, questions, and perspectives of leaders operating in entirely different business environments.
The result was not simply a series of Strategic Foresight programs.
It became a group-wide strategic learning ecosystem creating a shared language around foresight and planning while preserving the unique strategic realities of each participating business.
